About the Ready for Work programme
In essence, 'employability' is about three things; knowledge, skills and the right personal approach or attitude. The most important of these is undoubtedly attitude. Generally speaking, employers recognise their own responsibility to provide the knowledge and skills needed by young people in order to perform their jobs successfully. They do this by initial training, often termed induction, which is usually followed by on-the-job coaching and / or other training activities.
However, the most important thing for your success - your attitude to work and to your colleagues - is your own personal responsibility. No-one can do it for you. Ready for Work is aimed at assisting you to develop the right attitudes, a personal approach which will lead you to success.
Each of the 12 subjects actually relate to one of three vital attitudes; showing respect to your work colleagues, developing an enterprising approach to your job, and building a sense of personal responsibility to your employer. The fact that you are reading this shows you have a positive attitude, so well done! But the question is...will you complete the Programme so as to gain the most benefit?
